Public share links for PDFs
On Pro+ and Premium, every generated PDF can be hosted on our infrastructure and shared via a public URL like pdf.sheet-to-pdf.com/abc123def456.
Why share links?
- Recipients don't need a Google account — just click the link, the PDF opens
- Stable URLs — unlike Drive sharing, no permission changes can break the link
- Shareable anywhere — paste in emails, Slack, LinkedIn posts, your own website
- Better deliverability — sending a link is more email-safe than attaching a 2MB PDF
How it works
When Sheet to PDF generates a PDF (on Pro+/Premium), the file is:
- Saved to your Drive folder (if you picked one)
- Also uploaded to our Cloudflare R2 bucket
- Given a random 16-character hash, like
k7Js4Z2pVnR8mYxE - Made publicly viewable at
pdf.sheet-to-pdf.com/k7Js4Z2pVnR8mYxE
The hash is cryptographically random — impossible to guess.
In the sidebar
After generation, the results list shows the share URL for each PDF. Click the copy icon to grab the link to your clipboard.
Lifetime
- Pro+: hosted for 30 days after generation, then automatically deleted
- Premium: hosted indefinitely (until you delete or downgrade)
You can manually delete a hosted PDF from the Account view → Hosted PDFs section.
Security
- URLs are unguessable (random 16-char hashes from a pool of 64 characters = 296 possibilities)
- No directory listing — there's no way to enumerate other people's PDFs
- HTTPS only
- No login required to view — but the URL is your only access control. Treat it like a password.
⚠️ Don't host sensitive personal data via share links. Anyone with the URL can view. Use Drive sharing (which requires Google auth) for medical records, financial documents, or legally sensitive content.
Premium: custom domain
Premium customers can request a custom domain (pdfs.yourcompany.com). We set up the DNS, your shared PDFs now live on your domain. Contact us to set it up.
